The Corinthian’s, who lived in a culture that was heavily influenced by paganism, were trying to separate their new Christian faith from their old ways of thinking and living. Paul gives them instruction through the Old testament examples, a deeper understanding of Communion and explicit teaching on food sacrificed to idols. All of his teaching is focused ultimately on saving those who don’t know Christ .
