True repentance is the pathway to overcoming guilt and experiencing forgiveness.

Passage: Psalm 32

Discussion Questions:

1) Icebreaker: In verse 1, David opened with the word “Blessed.” In what ways have you experienced the Lord’s blessing(s) this past week?

2) Read vv. 1-2. What specific elements of God’s forgiveness fueled David’s hope and joy?

3) Some believe that forgiveness should nullify all sin’s consequences. How does David’s experience show otherwise?

4) Read Hebrews 12:5-6. Was God’s discipline of David an act of hatred or love? How so?

5) When sin is brought to your attention (either from God’s Word or from a friend), how do you typically respond? What does it look like to receive input with humility?

6) What are the signs of godly sorrow and true repentance (Ps. 32:5; 51:1-4, Prov. 28:13)? How does this compare to worldly sorrow and superficial repentance?
