Our worship team is a front-facing skill-based ministry with a high level of expected commitment. We get to lead the congregation weekly in the worship of God with excellence, with an eye toward bringing them to a higher view of Him every week. In this ministry we value both character and competency.
Though we worship in a multitude of ways (giving, serving, etc.), our musical worship primarily occurs through MVCC’s Worship Ministry, which exists to introduce people to Jesus, teach them God’s Word, and share how they can respond to His great love. We do all this…
1. In Spirit
- Our worship comes from a heart that is bound up with gratitude and love for our great God and all He has done (John 4:23-24)
2. In Truth
- Our worship is never mindless, but it ascends higher and higher the deeper we plunge into the Word of God and behold who He is (John 4:23-24, Romans 11:33-36)
- Our music ministers to the believer as we sing the Word of God (1 Thessalonians 2:13, Colossians 3:16-17, Isaiah 55:11) and it boldly proclaims the good news to unbelievers as we sing gospel rich songs (missional)
- We view music ministry as a subset of MVCC’s teaching ministry, as we have the task of bringing biblically rooted and doctrinally sound lyrics to the lips of the saints, who also teach one another as they sing (Colossians 3:16, Ephesians 5:19).
3. With Excellence
- We worship an excellent God, so excellence is what He deserves. God is glorified as we pursue excellence in artistry (1 Corinthians 10:31, Psalm 33:3, 1 Peter 4:10).
